SUMMARY:Allison Johnson Fundraiser Golf Tournament
DESCRIPTION:7 year old Allison Johnson of Grants Pass\, her mom Keli Gambucci and little brother Richard are currently living at the Target House at St. Jude?s Children?s Hospital in Memphis\, Tennessee. Allison has been battling Ewing Sarcoma\, a very rare form of cancer. They have been in Tennessee since November and are expecting to be there until the end of the year. Allison is in a trial study at St. Jude?s as the doctors? work with a combination of drugs to help battle this cancer. They have had some success as Allison?s tumor has shrunk 40% after the first round of drugs. They have added a 2nd round of drugs and hope to see more success. Allison is scheduled for her 3rd surgery\, where the doctors will go in through her lower abdomen and remove most of the mass around her spine. Ewing Sarcoma is a rare type of bone cancer that affects about 250 children a year in the United States. It is most often diagnosed in adolescents between 10 and 20 years of age. Although it is a bone cancer\, it can also affect the soft tissue surrounding the bone and is commonly found in places like the spine. Allison?s father\, Richard Johnson\, is unable to be with his family full time as he works in Grants Pass to support his family. He tries to get to Tennessee each month to spend time with his daughter\, wife and son\, but the distance takes its toll. He has used all of his vacation time and he currently lives with his grandfather in Merlin to help save money. They keep in touch daily via Skype\, but it doesn?t replace the arms of Allison?s father holding her as she receives her chemotherapy treatments. On June 20th\, Applegate River Golf Club is honored to host a benefit golf tournament for the Johnson Family. This tournament will be a 4-person\, 9 hole scramble with lots of raffle prizes\, food\, live music\, silent auction and much more. See reverse for more details. All proceeds will go directly to the Johnson family.
