DESCRIPTION:Local Author Cherie Coon is a retire DoDDS educator who spent many hears teaching the children of our military stationed in Germany. It was during this time overseas that she first began to write the story of Yani. \n\n\n\nYani is a ten year old dreamer who often is caught dancing in the meadow. One day the traveling Flint Knapper walks out of the forest to catch her dancing with a cloud of butterflies. At that moment Yani's life changes. By the day's end Yani finds herself traded to the Knapper for the blades her father needs to hunt for the family. From that moment her life changes from her father's unwanted child to a roving adventurer.\n\n\n\nOh\, the amazing things she sees and the experiences as she and the Knapper make the rounds from the sea in the north to the mountains that are always white in the south. Along the way she comes to trust and love the old man.\n \n\nA heart warming story proving that a family can be more than the one you were born into. YANI AND THE KNAPPER is sure to be beloved by any Middle School child who loves history\, adventure\, imagination and discovery. \n\n\n\nCome into Oregon Books and Games on July 20th and get a copy of YANI AND THE KNAPPER signed by the author!
