SUMMARY:Democracy in Motion with Aron Klein
DESCRIPTION:Transportation shapes how we connect with our communities\, access opportunities\, and participate in civic life. In this thought-provoking presentation\, Operations Manager Aron Klein of Partnership for Safety & Justice explores how 250 years of political decisions rooted in constitutional powers over post roads and interstate commerce have influenced who can travel\, how we move from place to place\, and what transportation reveals about democratic values. Participants will consider how modern transportation systems support or limit equity\, accessibility\, and civic participation.\n\n \n\nDemocracy in Motion is an Oregon Humanities Community Conversation\, part of its Beyond 250 initiative\, which brings Oregonians together in 2026 to reflect on democracy\, freedom\, and the future of our communities during the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. A library card is not required to participate.\n\n \n\nThis event is part of the 2026 Summer Reading Program "Plant a Seed\, Read\," sponsored by Evergreen Federal Bank\, Grants Pass Active Club\, Josephine Community Library Foundation\, Oregon Pacific Financial Advisor\, and the Sate Library of Oregon. For more information about the Summer Reading Program\, visit http://josephinelibrary.org.
