SUMMARY:Men's BBQ with War Veteran Dave Roever
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday\, May 3rd from 5:30-730pm in the Fellowship Hall at Parkway Christian Center. 229 NE Beacon Dr. (Across from Fred Meyer).\n\n \n\nWe will have Special Guest Dave Roever sharing with us that night a devotional\, "Men That Stand Up."\n\nCost is $10 which includes BBQ dinner and speaker. Main course is pork tenderloin and chicken.\n\n \n\nRegister for this event or visit parkwaycc.com/men\n\n \n\nDave Roever is a Vietnam veteran who served his country with honor\, and received over 6 military service medals\, including the Purple Heart.\n\n \n\nEight months into his tour of duty in Vietnam\, Roever was burned beyond recognition when a phosphorous grenade he was poised to throw exploded in his hand. The ordeal left him hospitalized for fourteen months\, where he underwent numerous major surgeries. His survival and life are miraculous.\n\n \n\nIn every setting\, Roever's message is one of truth and hope. Using his life as an example\, he addresses issues relevant to his audience and presents concrete solutions to life's problems. Often drawing upon his war experiences of loneliness\, peer pressure\, disfigurement\, and pain\, as well as life's triumphs\, Roever weaves together a message of courage\, commitment\, and survival that touches and transforms those who hear him.\n\n \n\nHis message is relevant to everyone who has experienced pain and brokenness in their lives. Today\, whether preaching\, speaking in public schools\, or training the military around the world\, the bottom line is tragedy can become triumph!
