SUMMARY:Ribbon Cutting - JCF Lifejacket Station Project
DESCRIPTION:Josephine County Foundation Ribbon Cutting Celebration\n\nfor Life Jacket Stations at Schroeder and Indian Mary Parks\n\n \n\nStudents in Josephine County have been working on developing a program where life jacket stations are created and implemented at parks with river access. These students decided to put this into action after seeing the increasing number of deaths in the Rogue Valley due to drowning in the Rogue River.\n\n \n\nThe purpose of the Josephine County Foundation's Life Jacket Project is to ensure safety for park goers when they attend these beautiful parks and to establish these parks as family friendly and safe within the community.\n\n \n\nThe lifejacket stations will be placed at Schroeder Park at 605 Schroeder Lane in Grants Pass\, Oregon and Indian Mary Park at 7100 Merlin Galice Road in Merlin\, Oregon. Both parks are very popular with locals and tourists and contain day use and camping options.\n\n \n\nThe Josephine County Foundation has partnered with Josephine County Parks Department\, Josephine County Commissioners\, Active Club\, and Steelheaders to make their vision a reality. The organizations and community leaders helped create the stations\, supply lifejackets\, and more.\n\n \n\nThe ribbon cutting event for the life jacket stations will be held at Schroeder Park at 10:00 AM on August 15th. The ceremony will be held to celebrate the project coming to life and to celebrate those who dedicated their time to better the community.
