SUMMARY:Summer Reading Program 2017 ~ ''Build a Better World''
DESCRIPTION:This year the Summer Reading Program is called "Build a Better World" and kicks off on Saturday\, June 24\, at all four branches.\n\n\n\nThe program runs for six weeks through Saturday\, August 5\, 2017. The program is completely free and offered during regular library hours at all four branches. -- Children ages birth through 12 years can enjoy creative crafts and storytelling sessions\, and play reading Bingo for special prizes. -- Teens can earn a weekly raffle ticket for each book read\, and the chance to win a $50 gift certificate to Oregon Books and Games every week.\n\n\n\n--Parents who attend with their children every week have a chance to win a $100 gift card to Fred Meyer at the end of the program.\n\n\n\nHow it works Every week for the 6-week Summer Reading Program\, your child will record the titles of the books they have read or that have been read to them on their Reading Record\, provided by program volunteers.\n\n\n\nThe weekly goal for age birth to 9 years old is to read 5 books\, and the goal for age 10-12 years is to read 3 chapter books.\n\n\n\nEach child meeting their weekly goal will receive a sticker to add to their personalized Reading Record. Every week\, he or she will receive an additional sticker until the end of the program.\n\n\n\nEach Child meeting the weekly goal will also receive an additional sticker until the end of the program. Each child meeting the weekly goal will also receive a special coupon from a local business sponsor. Every participating child may also earn an additional prize by completing one weekly reading Bingo game.\n\n\n\nBooks read for Bingo may also be listed in the Reading Record.
