Gallery Exhibit & Alien Invasion
Alien Invasion Scheduled for Hivve Art Hubb’s July 5th First Friday Fete!
Area 51 and Roswell, New Mexico, will soon have nothing on Grants Pass when it comes to alien encounters. Only a few weeks after turning their artistic sights skyward with a Northern Lights-themed gallery show featuring stunning works by local nature photographer Jasman Manders, The Hivve Art Hubb is again focusing on strange happenings in the night—this time documenting the arrival of alien spacecraft in an exhibition aptly titled, U-F-(Uh)-Oh! Comprised of 15 colorful acrylic paintings by HAH founding resident artist and executive director Colene Milligan—aka Sweet Colene Art—the whimsical series details otherworldly visitors dropping in on our planet to collect various samples of earthly life forms, with specimens ranging from a skunk to an alligator to Sasquatch—all of whom seem guaranteed to wreak a little unexpected havoc on their collectors.
Prior to alien tractor beams snatching their unwitting victims, the Josephine County Library, Rogue Writers Collective, and Friends of Oregon Caves and Chateau join HAH from 2pm-4pm to host a coloring session for kids at the end of that day’s Storybook Walk. Then at 5pm, the adult portion of the evening kicks off with alien landings, artworks by the Hivve Art Hubb founding resident artists, live music, delicious munchables and drinkables (both adult and kid-friendly), and an engaging assortment of art-loving locals. A perfect way to keep the holiday weekend fun going!
