Keeping Honey Bees Class
This overview course conducted online (via Zoom) and in a local apiary, is intended to give the learner material that will help them to understand the nature of honey bees, how they fit into the ecosystem and agriculture, their nature and care. Class will cover best practices in beekeeping, honey bee care requirements, bee anatomy and physiology, and equipment, as well as harvesting honey. The text used is “Storey’s Guide to Keeping Honey Bees”, 2nd edition, by authors Malcolm T. Sanford and Richard E. Bonney. The text can be purchased from Amazon for approximately $20.
Class will meet via ZOOM on Saturday, May 21 and in a local apiary on Sunday May 22nd - from 12-3 p.m.
