Lunch & Learn - Small Businesses & Energy Costs
Lunch & Learn - Webinar with Q&A
Did you know?
SMALL BUSINESSES SOMETIMES PAY FOR PROGRAMS OR SERVICES THAT DO NOT DIRECTLY BENEFIT THEM -
And any committees and advisory groups that are forming rules for State legislation--small business should be at the table helping craft those rules.
In Oregon, advocates for small business in the energy/utility spaces have worked for ten years to ensure the small business community is at the table to be treated fairly in utility ratemaking and services, mostly at the Public Utility Commission where the investor-owned utilities serve most of Oregon’s businesses, but also at your local municipal, cooperative, or peoples utility district.
• Why does my utility bill keep increasing every year?
• How does Oregon's climate change policy affect my business?
• What support is available to help offset new costs of decarbonization?
• What is the best utility plan for my business?
Utility costs and service may seem like a minimal topic of discussion but their reality of their impact may be more than you have previously thought.
Join us on Thursday, Sept 26th, 12:20 PM - 1:00 PM for virtual webinar with representatives from Small Business Utility Rate Advocates, Guillermo Castillo and Diane Henkels as they share valuable information, perspective and resources to help you and your small business navigate the cost of energy.
SBUA is working with Energy Trust of Oregon to share information on Energy Trust programs and services. Energy Trust is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to helping utility customers of PGE, Pacific Power, NW Natural, Cascade Natural Gas, and Avista save energy and benefit from renewable power. Energy can be a significant expense for small businesses. Replacing older, inefficient equipment with new, high-efficiency equipment can lead to long-term savings but the upfront costs can be challenging for small businesses, where every dollar counts. Energy Trust incentives help reduce the upfront cost of investing in high-efficiency equipment, so businesses can see a bottom-line benefit from the energy savings more quickly.
This presentation is brought to our area as a collaboration with Common Connections, a local facilitating organization that is a fellow member of the Grants Pass & Josephine County Chamber of Commerce and also a fellow awardee of the 2024 Working Together Grant from the Energy Trust of Oregon.
