The artists that take our breath away understand the play of light and dark. Some feel the range of light to dark in a painting, the "values," are more important than color to a design. Value changes draw us to our focal point and create the illusion of depth and dimension.
In this class, we will explore working with basic black, white, and shades of grey. We will use our basic black palette and a variety of mixed media techniques, including collage, mark making, drawing faces, and using stencils and masks! This is a process-oriented class, but you will come away with a portfolio of inspiration and tools to create more dramatic art.
