Wiseman Gallery ''Uber-Form: Painting Past the Image'' Exhibit thru Nov 30

The Rogue Community College (RCC) Wiseman Gallery's fall 2017 exhibition, "Uber-Form: Painting Past the Image," will be on display from Oct. 4 through Nov. 30 at the campus in Grants Pass featuring works by E Bender-Webb, Scott Malbaurn and Claudia Cilloniz Marchini.

This exhibit hopes to grab the viewers' attention in the silence and stillness of a physical image if only for a moment as the world of flickering digital images quickly vanish around us.

E Bender-Webb uses an explosive, improvisational style that both hides and reveals images and their relationship with the ideas behind them. In a quietly dynamic way, he dips the viewer in paint, and points the way for them to come out of the painting, like a shaman, with part of the identity of the images and even abstract forms in his work.

Scott Malbaurn reassembles the geometric underpinnings of the objective identity of the physical painting itself as he rearranges the viewer's relationship with rational perspective; his paintings are both wholly stable and unstable simultaneously.

Claudia Cilloniz Marchini explores an immense array of styles, mediums, surfaces, and images in an endless quest for a quixotic moment of awareness. She works often in series, but each series seems to be have been created by a fresh hand, with the same open, vulnerable, and beckoning artistic mind leading us to new perspectives.
