She developed and maintained IT programs, coordinated all accounting efforts for day-to-day operations as well as preparing the books for an international sale. Eileen coordinated partnerships and production in St Louis, Missouri and New Delhi, India and worked with the local, state, national and international registrants to develop labels and bring products to market. Currently she is serving on the St Anne’s School board, Amaranthus Family Foundation board, managing commercial and residential real estate, enjoying life traveling with Michael, our adult children and being a grandma to 7 grandchildren.
Mike
A two-time cancer survivor, Mike Amaranthus received the USDA’s highest honors award for scientific achievement after his 20 years of contributions as a USDA research scientist, authoring and co-authoring over 100 scientific papers. Three decades ago, Mike and his wife Eileen founded Mycorrhizal Applications Inc., a biotechnology company focusing on growing and using beneficial soil organisms that greatly expand the effective rooting of plants. The result was to increase food production using less water, chemical fertilizers and pesticides. The globally ground-breaking products are now used in over 35 countries and created an international keystone industry for conserving earth’s resources. In 2015, Mike and Eileen sold the company to Sumitomo of Japan. Mike Amaranthus holds an undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley, a master degree from Antioch University and a Ph.D in microbiology from Oregon State University. Mike is active with Oregon Health Sciences University advisory board, the Esophageal Cancer Action Network and helps lead the University of Oregon athletic department life skills, student athletic development and mentorship programs.
