Administrative Clerk
The Josephine County Historical Society is looking for an administrative clerk to support the operations of the Society and Research Library in its mission to collect historical items and make them available to the public. This position is part-time, Tuesday through Friday, between the hours of 10AM and 4PM. If you’re someone who has a passion for history, especially that of Josephine County, and has proficiency in clerical work, this may be an ideal position for you.
Under the supervision of the Office Director, the Administrative Clerk performs the following duties:
- Greets and assists visitors to the Research Library and Schmidt House museum
- Answers phones
- Gives guided tours of the Schmidt House
- Files and organizes historical publications and documents
- Sells books and other retail items in our bookstore
- Assists visitors with research and photocopying material
- Helps keep the office clean and tidy
- Checks the library and Schmidt House grounds daily for trash or damage
- Gathers trash, recyclables, and yard waste for Wed. pickup
- Maintains office supplies and re-orders as needed
- Conducts a yearly inventory of historical publications and artifacts
- Fills in for the Office Director as needed
- Assists at JCHS events and Board meetings
- Assists JCHS Board Members as needed
- Assists JCHS volunteers as needed
