About Us

The Friends of the Oregon Caves and Chateau is a non-profit formed in 2007 under a cooperative agreement with the National Park Service to preserve, protect and improve the cultural and natural resources of the Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve.
The Oregon Caves Chateau is a National Historic Landmark Lodge - and one the three Great Lodges in Oregon.

Built in 1934, during the depression - the 25 room lodge has welcomed visitors to Josephine County for over 85 years. The furniture - original to the lodge - is Monterey style. This was developed for movie stars moving out west Gene Autrey, Wil Rogers, Walt Disney and many others. Currently Diane Keaton has one of the largest private collections.

The Chateau is currently under restoration with a Life Safety and Accessibility upgrade by the National Park Service. The Friends goal is to restore, conserve and replicate the collection of hand-built Monterey Furniture Collection - the largest in the nation.
