About Us
Soroptimist International of River Valley (SIRV) is based in Grants Pass, Oregon. We are a group of multi-generational women who meet weekly to fund raise, develop community service programs, provide educational scholarships and build relationships within the community. We are women helping women through volunteering.
SIRV was established in March 2000. The Soroptimist name loosely translates, from Latin, to mean “Best for Women”. We are one of four clubs within the Southern Oregon region; a modest but impactful part of Soroptimists’ presence in over 120 countries across the world with nearly 66,000 members worldwide.
Our years of experience working with women and girls has taught us that education is the key to unlocking economic empowerment of the world’s women and girls. When women and girls are educated, they have opportunity, choice and power to make healthy decisions for themselves and their families.
We make a difference through volunteer fund raising events. Funds raised go to valuable service projects in our community; educational scholarships, public education, women’s crisis, family support, health & wellness, domestic violence support and more.
We meet regularly at the Black Forest Restaurant in Grants Pass. Soroptimist meetings are open to women of all ages within the community. We’d love to meet you!
