Lead Mechanic
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Lead Mechanic to join our Public Works Fleet Division. This is a critical role responsible for ensuring the safety and readiness of our diverse fleet, including police patrol cars, fire apparatus, heavy trucks, and off-road equipment.
Duties include mechanic and electrical work, tune-ups, use of specialized vehicle testing and maintenance equipment and tools, records maintenance and may include response to emergency repair needs.

Minimum Qualifications:
A High School Diploma or GED is required. An Associate Degree in a related field is preferred. Five years of automotive and/or medium/heavy truck mechanic experience are required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Licensing Requirements (positions in this class require):
- Valid driver’s license, Oregon Class C with an acceptable driving record
- Oregon Driver’s License – Class B with air brake endorsement (within 12 months of appointment)
- Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Certification to comply with EQA Section 609
- Air Brake and Inspection Certification meeting FMCSA standards
- Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) Fire Apparatus Level 2 or higher Certification (Testing schedule to be determined at time of hire)
- ASE Master Automotive Technician and/or Master Medium/Heavy Truck Technician
- Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) Law Enforcement Vehicle Technician Level 1 Certificate
